Description Brynjar Smári Bjarnason 2006-03-26 15:19:17 UTC
Hello.
I have the gentoo 2006.0 live cd. After booting (just hit enter) it starts to find hadrware. It gets to my Video and then it goes:

video is ATI Technologies Inc. Rage 128 GL, using X(vesa) Server
Monitor is....
using modes...
Configuring OpenGL
No OpenGL-capable card found.

If you have a card that you know is supported ... and so on...
Switching to xorg-x11 OpenGL Interface
>>>Regenerating /etc/ld.so.cache

and here nothing happens.
I don't know much about Linux so detailed info is preferred :)

Do you have a bash prompt after this? If not, does booting with 'nox' give you a prompt?

I don't think so. When it stops i can write stuff but pressing enter doesn't do anything.

Would you please boot with "gentoo nox" and see if you get a prompt?

I have tried that and the same thing happend. I also tried other parameters but nothing works. Is it possible to go straight to installation with the live CD without starting the graphical environment first?

That is what "gentoo nox" does.

What other options did you try, exactly?

I cannot help you if you do not give me information to assist you.

Try: "gentoo-nofb nox nolapic noapic nosmp acpi=off"

Unfrotunately, without more information, there's not much that I can do. We have a new release coming out soon, perhaps you will have better luck with it.
