Description Jeffrey Gardner (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2006-02-27 20:08:05 UTC
Hi folks,
I upgraded to :

[ebuild     U ] media-video/mplayer-1.0.20060217 [1.0_pre7-r1] (-3dfx) (-3dnow) (-3dnowext) +X +aac -aalib +alsa (-altivec) -arts -bidi -bindist -bl -cdparanoia -cpudetection -custom-cflags -debug +dga +directfb -doc +dts -dv -dvb +dvd +dvdread -edl +encode +esd +fbcon -ggi +gif +gtk +i8x0 -ipv6 -jack -joystick +jpeg -libcaca +lirc +live -livecd -lzo +mad -matroska -matrox (-mmx) (-mmxext) -musepack -nas +nls +nvidia +openal +opengl -oss +png -real +rtc +samba +sdl (-sse) (-sse2) (-svga) -tga -theora +truetype +v4l +v4l2 +vorbis (-win32codecs) -xanim -xinerama -xmms +xv +xvid -xvmc 0 kB

and using a backup script:

mencoder $FILENAME -oac lavc -ovc lavc -of mpeg -mpegopts format=dvd -aid 128 \
-vf scale=720:480,harddup -srate 48000 -lavcopts acodec=ac3:abitrate=192:\
vcodec=mpeg2video:keyint=15:trell:mbd=2:mbd=2:precmp=2:subcmp=2:cmp=2:\
dia=-10:predia=-10:cbp:mv0:vqmin=1:lmin=1:dc=10:vbitrate=$RATE:aspect=16/9:\
threads=2 -ofps $FRAMERATE -o $FILENAME.mpg ;

Lots of errors I haven't seen were thrown:

ERROR: SCR: 94334866662, APTS: 94301798400, DELTA=-0.359 secs, COMPENSATE=8611, BR: 24000, lens: 2016/2016, frames: 3

and the end result was a video that would throw the popup error "Too many frames in video buffer" (or similar). Also, audio was intermittent. Some sections of the video had audio, but most of the movie did not.

Those are some extreme mencoder flags there :)

Try pre8, see if that helps.

Thanks
