Description Don Allen 2006-01-25 08:34:43 UTC
I am running Gentoo 2005.1 on 3 systems -- two Thinkpads (an old 600x and a G41) and a dual-processor desktop system. Opera 8.51 just disappears periodically, perhaps 4 or 5 times during the course of a business day; this behavior occurs on all three systems. I can't provide any UI gestures that lead to the crashes -- I have not noticed a pattern. I did run a recent version of Opera, I think it was 8.50, on Ubuntu 5.04 prior to installing Gentoo on that system, and had no problems. I realize that's not much info -- different Opera version, old Ubuntu. I may be able to test 8.51 on Ubuntu Breezy and, if so, I will let you know the results.

Comment 1 Don Allen 2006-01-25 10:39:28 UTC
I don't think this is a Gentoo-specific problem. I just ran Ubuntu Breezy on one of my machines and installed Opera 8.51 there. I left Opera running on that system with a couple of tabs open and observed the same crash. No core files that I can find. I will report to the Opera folks, and I'm changing the status to 'upstream', which I presume is the correct status (there is no explanation of the meaning of 'upstream' if you click the 'resolution' link just to the left of the 'changing resolution to' pulldown, so I'm guessing it means that there's a bug, but not yours)?
