environment: Xfree86's "xtt" module used in glibc 2.2.5-r7 + xfree 4.2.1-r1 compiled with gcc 3.2-r1 using CFLAGS="-march=i686 -pipe -O3" Symptom: In xfontsel program, truetype fonts were not properly scaled with changing ptsize (point size) even when xfontsel program was envoked with '-scaled' option argument. This cause serious problem on using truetype fonts in traditinal X Font era but not Xft era. For example, in mozilla program truetype fonts were not usable d/t failed scaling. Thus, selecting trutype fonts to default fonts causes document filled with blank characters. This symptoms showed in only pentium4 machine, not in the other architecture (eg. pentium3, athlon, ...) Temporary solution: Just switching glibc 2.2.5 to 2.3.1 (testing) solved above problem.
P.S. LiveCD's compiled xfree showed the same symptom in the pentium4 machine.
This works fine on my p4 box, so not sure what to say.
Works on all of my P4's as well (7 of them).
BTW, the xtt module was deperecated long ago in favor of the freetype module.
Seeing as there's been no mention of a problem of this sort for about 10 months, many WORKSFORME reports, and no more glibc-2.2.5-r7, shouldn't we at least mark this one as WORKSFORME rather than an open critical one? Nobody has been able to reproduce this bug.
