IRC Nick: marienz email addie: m_zwart at 123mail.org Anyone who frequents #gentoo has seen him running amok; been around the community for quite some time, helping along the way and has been after stepping into help the python herd (and dumping the twisted* suite ebuilds on him sounds like a good idea) :) Quiz response should hit the recruiters email addie shortly (already have done the reviewing bit of it).
updating bug... his first round quiz has been sent in, looked it over and approved it already also.
*bump* Current hold up?
blah, I got suckered
Marien- I only have a ebuild quiz for you, I don't have a EoM quiz. Please work with Brian(s) or resend(and make sure to put your bug # in the subject line)
Checked up with dmwaters regarding handling this since kingtaco is out of town- no issue, so finalizing him (already reviewed the quizes prior to it hitting recruiters alias).
marienz reports having CVS access, so I'ma assuming this is all go? Cloaked (gentoo/developer) : DONE! Being as the welcome mail hasn't gone out yet - I'll say congrats here :)
forums/bugzie upgraded, cvs/svn/svnportage groups (later for portage 3)... So... a welcome mail, which I'll be sending in next few minutes.
Hi, Would like marienz recognized as part of user-relations and added to the user-relations alias please. Thank you.
someone kindly close this...
resolved at brians request
Marien showed no CVS activity since Jun 22, 2007 and no bugzilla activity since 2007-06-22. roll-call says he's only role withing Gentoo is helping python herd but python project lead, Tiziano Muller (dev-zero), considers him missing in action long ago. I'm staring retirement procedure.
Second mail sent today.
marienz is also one of the #gentoo ops (<http://www.gentoo.org/proj/en/ops/>). We have not seen him for a very long time. His helpful IRC bot has been present during that time but has dropped from the network a few days ago.

Almost completely beside the issue of this bug, but relevant to anyone who has worked with marienz, as one of the devs living closest to him, I have today arranged to find information as to Marien's whereabouts and health and have mailed his university coach to please please contact him and possibly feed back information to us.
Thanks for that. Please let us know whatever you manage to find out.
I went to visit Marien today. He's doing well, he said, only he needed to take a very definitive break from programming and consequently his Gentoo involvement. Also he felt he was becoming much too much involved and it was not doing him any good (anymore). He feels he's OK with his retirement from this project.
I hope Marien will regain his motivation and come back to Gentoo one day. For now we're going with his retirement. Infra, please start retiring Marien.
Infrastructure side of retirement has been processed. Sorry for the delay.
Retired on forums.
- Cleaned up all proj/ entries with retire.py
- Removed gentoo/developer cloak - Removed access entry on #gentoo-dev
ta-ta marienz, come back planet done
- Removed from metadata.xml - Removed from herds.xml - No assigned bugs found It's all done.
Hi! As some of you may have noticed on IRC I have somewhat returned, and would not mind rejoining gentoo (being somewhat less active than I was previously to avoid burning out all over again, though). Primarily I would like to do some maintenance of python-related packages, maybe add one or a few things I have sitting in my private overlay, and just fix the occasional bug if I run into one. If you would not mind having me back please tell me how to accomplish this (retake quizzes, presumably?).
I'm reopening per Marien's request. Marien, I'm going to reassign the bug to recruiters so they can let you know all the required details.
(In reply to comment #25) > > If you would not mind having me back please tell me how to accomplish this > (retake quizzes, presumably?). > The process is the same as for new developers. Of course hopefully answering the quizzes is easier now.
recruiters@ just received the first (ebuild) quiz answers from me. It looks like my mail client mangled it a little, sorry about that). I hope I caught all the answers that changed slightly from when I previously took this quiz instead of just getting the new questions right, since I cheated quite a bit by referring back to my old answers.
(In reply to comment #28) > > I hope I caught all the answers that changed slightly from when I previously > took this quiz instead of just getting the new questions right, since I cheated > quite a bit by referring back to my old answers. > Remember that even if the wording of the question is still the same the answer might have changed.
I will be your recruiter. Please also send your end eom quiz to recruiters@gentoo.org when approved by your mentor. Always add a comment to this bug when you send something to that address. Please contact me by IRC or email to schedule the first review session. If you think that recruiters aren't paying attention to this bug at any later point in time, it's your job to ping us on IRC if you don't want any delays.

Marien has apparently been missing for about a month now. I've been talking to Richard Hartmann of Freenode who has some phone numbers (since Marien is on staff there), which he never got a response on.
I just called on his house and he's apparently doing alright, only without using an Internet connection.
It looks like he is inactive for a long time :/
He will retire as reported via mail
- metadatas, projects and bugs cleaned
