real name: Stephen Klimaszweski email: threeway@gmail.com nick: steev Steev wants to help with mobile, gnome and gentopia herds. He is frequently present on IRC and thus may already be known by many developers in the herds he is joining. He is also active in bugzilla and has created his own overlay for new ebuilds. I hope many of them will be added to the tree now :)
I'm sure steev will do a great job as a developer. In the ~year I've known him, he's made a lot of progress with linux. He no longer breaks stuff daily ;). He also shows a tenacity to keep with a problem til he can get it fix. I'm sure you all don't need to know this but it doesn't hurt.
I'll volunteer to be his mentor.
About time! If you need any help, just ask...
Alright recruiters. He completed his end of mentoring quiz and it looks good. Give him the magical tap on the shoulder.
I have read through steev's quizzes and we discussed once or two questions and I approved them afterwards,
Quizzes checked and okay.
bugs, forums, cvs, ldap done.

Steev is .away (although he forgot to set .away for himself). His machine died and he is in process of rebuilding it at the moment. Retirement closed.

My reply to the email. I'm working on it - I hope to get the new wpa_supplicant bumps done within the week, as well as some changes for dbus and a few other packages I have kept up to date (and tested) in my overlay. Unfortunately as I mentioned on IRC, girlfriend's grandfather has Alzheimer's and the hospital OD'd him on his meds causing him to fall and hit his head, inducing a seizure, and accelerating the Alzheimer's by about 10 years. He is currently bed ridden, has to be strapped down since he is at the violent stage, and cannot feed himself. I really wish I had more hours in the day.
I'm really sorry to hear that. Retirement closed.

Why are so gung ho to retire people that aren't super active but just help out when they can? Steev has a lot on his plate right now with family things and work is pressing him hard right now because they're short handed for a project. I still talk with him regularly and he tests packages that I commit with his help.

Because I have already mailed him directly to ask for his status and to try to get his bugs solved, I got no reply. I also asked him to set a devaway message as he hasn't committed for more than 4 months, but I got no reply. That things need to be addressed, then, if you talk with him regularly, could you ask him to set a devaway message and look for new maintainers for his packages if he cannot attend to them (or let me do that if he isn't able to)

Hey easy. We emailed him and he never replied. What we were supposed to do? Guess? This is the policy for retirements. We don't randomly retire people. But if they never reply to our emails, and if they haven't committed anything for months, they the reasonable assumption is that this person got MIA.
Looks like all was handled
Looks like he is away now
Packages reassigned
Sorry, I don't check my email often due to the spam - I was made aware on irc that my devaway went away - I should be back up to speed by the end of today.
Nice to see you around again! Thanks for your feedback!

Apologies, I'll set up my email better so I don't miss these types of things. I'd set a .devaway but was recently told it should be .away -> I'm back May 16th, but if you must retire before then, I understand it has been a while. I would appreciate a ping on IRC, but I know that is difficult to do.
So, what do I need to do to restore access and so forth?

Erm, shouldn't the counter have been reset? I only just got my access back somewhat recently - also, fwiw, I tried replying but my mail to retirement@ was bounced back - I'm not sure if it's on my end or not; my mails seem to go through to the kernel mailing list but maybe they're less strict? The counter is reset when you actually make a commit. One could ask why do you requested commit access if you never planned to make a commit in the first place.
