Description:   Opened: 2005-07-10 15:19 0000
Since the next stable release (2.0) of Linux-VServer should be out pretty
soon.

The following tests need to be done, to ensure basic kernel support for
vserver:

http://vserver.13thfloor.at/Stuff/SCRIPT/testme.sh (use with -L)
http://vserver.13thfloor.at/Stuff/SCRIPT/testfs.sh (requires loopback support,
supported filesystems are ext{2,3}/xfs,reiser and jfs)

archs, plase test!

Thanks!

Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
# testme.sh
# testfs.sh

Expected Results:
# sh testme.sh -L

------- Comment #1 From Jason Wever (RETIRED) 2005-07-10 18:52:32 0000 -------
The vserer-sources patch does not exist at the SRC_URI of
http://dev.gentoo.org/~hollow/vserver/patches/vserver-sources-2.0_rc6.tar.bz2
nor on the mirrors.

------- Comment #2 From Benedikt Böhm 2005-07-10 23:51:51 0000 -------
wtf... uploaded now...

------- Comment #3 From Stuart Longland 2005-07-31 05:42:23 0000 -------
Not sure why we're CCed. These kernel sources are not intended for use on MIPS
hardware. This is a patch set, based on the kernel.org tree, which is
incompatable with the Linux/MIPS kernel tree, and thus, is not expected to run
particularly well on MIPS systems. (If at all).

Also, I notice the only arches in keywords are amd64 and x86.
Removing mips@ from the CC list... add back in if this is in error.

eeek.... same here

------- Comment #5 From Benedikt Böhm 2005-07-31 14:47:25 0000 -------
[23:44] <Bertl> Hollow: regarding alpha: humbug! regarding mips, well if they
have a broken arch in mainline ... then it's probably not working ...
[23:44] <Bertl> (but not because of the vserver patch)
[23:44] <Hollow> may i c&p this?
[23:45] <Bertl> sure, it _is_ currently running on the alpha, and I have no
idea about mips, as I have none ...
[23:46] <Bertl> Hollow: well, actually rc8.1 is running on the alpha ..
[23:46] <Hollow> ok

so, alpha team please test _rc8!

------- Comment #6 From Gustavo Zacarias (RETIRED) 2005-08-01 12:06:56 0000 -------
I'll take the LATER approach for sparc.
Currently 2.6.12 doesn't work right for us, and all the work on fixing this is
going into 2.6.13 (which doesn't work quite well either yet) - so it remains to
be seen if 2.6.13 will be ready for general deployment (and no, we don't have
any 2.6 kernel in stable status).

------- Comment #7 From Guy Martin 2005-08-02 01:05:24 0000 -------
This will certainly not run on hppa.

------- Comment #8 From Benedikt Böhm 2005-08-08 12:08:46 0000 -------
as 2.0 is out and should hit the mirrors in a few hours, please test 2.0 now!

------- Comment #9 From Calum 2005-09-01 17:51:32 0000 -------
Just a quick question - is GRsec not being included in the 2.0 vserver kernels,
or will it be added in later once everything is working without it?

Calum

------- Comment #10 From Benedikt Böhm 2005-10-01 02:07:46 0000 -------
it won't be added...

ping@arch teams...

------- Comment #11 From Fernando J. Pereda (RETIRED) 2005-10-01 02:18:17 0000 -------
Once again our users are not asking this package so we are not keywording it
for
now.

Cheers,
Ferdy

------- Comment #12 From Simon Stelling (RETIRED) 2005-10-04 14:27:07 0000 -------
we're currently testing a new alias system, sorry for the bugspam

------- Comment #13 From Simon Stelling (RETIRED) 2005-11-21 11:48:22 0000 -------
removing amd64 since hollow is taking care of vserver stuff on his own for this
arch:)

------- Comment #14 From Joe Jezak 2005-11-21 19:59:57 0000 -------
Seems to work, marked ~ppc.

------- Comment #15 From Benedikt Böhm 2005-11-26 05:35:40 0000 -------
will take care of x86, amd64 and ppc myself, other archs on request -> LATER
