From the dir2slideshow man page:
[-T] Sort images by the JPEG header picture taken time, then by the file modification date, and finally by the filename. Default sort is by name only. Requires the jhead program.

Test (in a directory with jpegs) with:
dir2slideshow -T -n test

Get:
[dir2slideshow] ERROR: jhead not found! 
[dir2slideshow] Check the dependencies and make sure everything is installed.


Works fine with: media-gfx/jhead-2.0

fixed in cvs, also added new upstream version. thanks for reporting
