Gnome-vfs won't compile because of missing libraly. checking for bzlib.h... no configure: error: Gnome-vfs requires libbz2 to compile. !!! Please attach the config.log to your bug report: !!! /var/tmp/portage/gnome-vfs-2.8.4-r1/work/gnome-vfs-2.8.4/config.log !!! ERROR: gnome-base/gnome-vfs-2.8.4-r1 failed. !!! Function econf, Line 485, Exitcode 0 !!! econf failed !!! If you need support, post the topmost build error, NOT this status message.
we don't dep on bzip2 because it's in system profile. I'm not sure why you are without it (!provide your emerge info in bugreports!), but I'm pretty sure you should'nt even be able to unpack the tarball without it.
Bzip2 was installed on system, but there wasn't libbz2 on my system. This is fresh install of gentoo. After I reemerged bz2 package everything was ok with gnome-vfs.
Same happens on my system. I also have gentoo freshly installed. (2005.1 - stage2) bzip2 1.0.2-r5 is installed. After updating to 1.0.3 everything works. During configuration of gnome-vfs this error occurs: FATAL ERROR: Autoconf version 2.50 or higher is required for this script but autoconf 2.59-r6 is installed. Another error during configuration command jm_LANGINFO-CODESET not found (or similar) But then gnome-vfs compiles fine.
If this is really an issue, it's really hard to debug the problem without more information. Please, reporters, provide your 'emerge info' and remember to _always_ include it when reporting bugs. Thanks.
This is a problem with the bzip2-1.0.3-r3.ebuild, it has nothing to do with gnome-vfs (even if that is the most prominent package where it occurs). There is a proposed fix in bug 93867.
thanks for the note *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of 93867 ***
