ldd /.../gcc prints

        linux-gate.so.1 =>  (0xffffe000)
        libc.so.6 => /lib/libc.so.6 (0xb7ebf000)
        /lib/ld-linux.so.2 (0xb7feb000)

Since the /lib/ld-linux.so.2 line has no "=>" the create-env script does not 
use it. I have added a hardcoded "add_file /lib/ld-linux.so.2" to create-env and the resulting environment woks fine.

i have no idea what 'create-env' is but it sounds broken and i dont see what
that has to do with `ldd` output

create-env is part of icecream. Sorry for not making that clear.
For sure the bug is in create-env and not in ldd
