Comment 1 P Nienaber 2005-03-02 18:09:21 UTC
Yeah, I'm starting to suspect a b0rked symlink somewhere.
Comment 2 P Nienaber 2005-03-03 12:34:38 UTC
Go xorg, go! (checked timestamps with genlop and indeed the ts on the symlink proves that xorg-x11-6.8.1.904 did this)

fixed w/ change from:

lrwxrwxrwx  1 root root 36 Feb  7 02:21 /usr/lib32 -> ../../emul/linux/x86/usr/X11R6/lib32

to:

lrwxrwxrwx  1 root root 28 Mar  3 12:02 /usr/lib32 -> ../../emul/linux/x86/usr/lib

and of course now I'm getting:
checking whether the C compiler works... configure: error: cannot run C compiled programs.

so I'll go visit the bug on that.

Comment 4 Donnie Berkholz (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2005-03-03 13:02:33 UTC
I think this was previously fixed with a new version of the emul-xlibs. Reassigning to amd64 for confirmation.
Comment 5 Marcus D. Hanwell (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2005-03-03 14:34:57 UTC
I did insert extra logic for the symlink creation when installing emul-linux-x86-xlibs-1.2-r6. I will try remerging xorg-x11-6.8.2 again, and then the emul lib to see if this issue is still affecting us.
Comment 6 a+gentoobugs 2005-03-06 17:06:06 UTC
I've had this problem too because of the symlink target w/ X11R6 in it.

I changed

/usr/lib32 -> ../../emul/linux/x86/usr/X11R6/lib32
to:
/usr/lib32 -> ../../emul/linux/x86/usr/lib

and afterwards was able to re-emerge gcc with multilib
Comment 7 Marcus D. Hanwell (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2005-03-13 07:30:19 UTC
/usr/lib32 should never point to ../../emul/linux/x86/usr/X11R6/lib32, it should always be to ../../emul/linux/x86/usr/lib. I think that this is a problem leftover from the xorg-x11 migration script which should now be fixed. It is a real directory for the 2005.0 profile due to be released soon.

I am marking this as fixed - please reopen if the 6.8.2-r1 xorg-x11 ebuild causes any similar issues. with this symlink.
