 I have exactly the same problem with step, with the /dev/dri/xxx errors.

I have an nvidia card, that why I dont have the dri errors... 
I think both problems are unrelated... .. the pspfontcache directory is where
OOo stores its font cache... The directory should be created on the first run
anyways, I think... Anyways, OOo should work even if the cache is not there (but
I think the startup time may be slower)

I am getting the same problems as the OP, not the dri errors:

I unmerged openoffice-bin-r2 also, just to see if that helped.  nope.  
rebooted as well.  no go.
