Sorry for the delay. Does MAKEOPTS=-j1 solve the problem?

------- Comment #2 From Mamoru KOMACHI (RETIRED) 2005-02-08 05:10:35 0000 -------
I confirmed the problem (with gcc-3.4.3), but active-dvi-1.6.0.ebuild
doesn't have this issue. Please run `emerge --sync` and try that version.

------- Comment #3 From Andras BALI 2005-02-08 08:46:01 0000 -------
Okay it compiles now, thanks. BTW do you have any idea why I get these error
messages when I try to view a DVI file?

kpathsea: Running mktexpk --mfmode / --bdpi 600 --mag 1+0/600 --dpi 600 aer12

And no letters are displayed. Xdvi, dvips and others work fine. missfont.log
contains:

------- Comment #4 From Mamoru KOMACHI (RETIRED) 2005-02-12 06:52:38 0000 -------
Could you attach the file you actually failed to display with active-dvi?
(Also, which version of tetex are you using?)

------- Comment #5 From Andras BALI 2005-02-12 07:02:36 0000 -------
It seems to be caused by \usepackage{ae}. For example:

\documentclass{article}
\usepackage{ae}
\begin{document}
\section{Foobar}
Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet
\end{document}

I'm using tetex-2.0.2-r5.

Probably, you need to add to active-dvi config file the specifications for
ae-fonts.

I discourage the use of ae.sty, anyway...
