When I start X11, it runs normaly for a few seconds and then without any warning the thing "freezes" and suddenly vertical lines appear all over the screen. X11 is the only thing that freezes, I can ssh normaly to that computer. I have found on several sites that this might be a problem with the kernel, so I am going to try it on a older kernel and I will get back to you about how it went. Created attachment 44476 [details] My xorg configuration
exact ebuild version, please
I'm sorry, I forgot about that. The version is 6.8.0-r3
This has already been reported upstream. Let's follow it there.
could you please show me where?
Karol, is this still a problem?
I have gotten a new computer with a nvidia card since I reported this bug. So no.
Thanks
I'll mark this as needinfo, since someone needs to confirm whether or not this is still an issue for i810 chips.
My X crashed with i810 driver and a lockup error message while running mplayer. Hardware is ASUS P5GDC-V Deluxe with i915 graphics, and as the upstream URL states it is not about i915, I'm not sure if this here is the right Gentoo bug or if I should open a new one. The summary here would fit well enough. My bug might also be related to https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=7951 but that has supposedly been fixed and mine is much less reproducible. I have Xorg logs from a crash and a clean start, but I haven't had a crash since rebuilding xf86-video-i810 with USE=debug. Should I post them here or open a new?
(In reply to comment #10) > since rebuilding xf86-video-i810 with USE=debug. Should I post them here or > open a new? > Sorry for the late reply. You should probably open a new bug.
