Description Karol Krizka 2004-11-22 10:03:28 UTC
When I start X11, it runs normaly for a few seconds and then without any warning the thing "freezes" and suddenly vertical lines appear all over the screen. X11 is the only thing that freezes, I can ssh normaly to that computer. I have found on several sites that this might be a problem with the kernel, so I am going to try it on a older kernel and I will get back to you about how it went.

Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1.login
2.startx
3.wait for several seconds

Actual Results:
(**) Option "CustomKeycodes" "off"
(**) Keyboard1: CustomKeycodes disabled
(II) XINPUT: Adding extended input device "Keyboard1" (type: KEYBOARD)
(II) XINPUT: Adding extended input device "Mouse1" (type: MOUSE)
(II) Mouse1: ps2EnableDataReporting: succeeded

Comment 2 Carsten Lohrke (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2004-11-22 10:33:39 UTC
exact ebuild version, please
Comment 3 Karol Krizka 2004-11-22 11:13:39 UTC
I'm sorry, I forgot about that. The version is 6.8.0-r3
Comment 4 Donnie Berkholz (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2004-11-22 11:19:14 UTC
This has already been reported upstream. Let's follow it there.
Comment 5 Karol Krizka 2004-11-22 11:32:11 UTC
could you please show me where?
Comment 6 Joshua Baergen (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2005-11-20 12:39:28 UTC
Karol, is this still a problem?
Comment 7 Karol Krizka 2005-11-20 12:41:39 UTC
I have gotten a new computer with a nvidia card since I reported this bug. So
no.
Comment 8 Joshua Baergen (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2005-11-20 14:10:12 UTC
Thanks
Comment 9 Joshua Baergen (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2005-11-20 14:11:19 UTC
I'll mark this as needinfo, since someone needs to confirm whether or not this
is still an issue for i810 chips.
Comment 10 Martin von Gagern 2006-10-25 06:35:29 UTC
My X crashed with i810 driver and a lockup error message while running mplayer.
Hardware is ASUS P5GDC-V Deluxe with i915 graphics, and as the upstream URL states it is not about i915, I'm not sure if this here is the right Gentoo bug or if I should open a new one. The summary here would fit well enough.
My bug might also be related to https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=7951 but that has supposedly been fixed and mine is much less reproducible.
I have Xorg logs from a crash and a clean start, but I haven't had a crash since rebuilding xf86-video-i810 with USE=debug. Should I post them here or open a new?

Sorry for the late reply. You should probably open a new bug.
