Description:   Opened: 2004-11-13 22:53 0000
There is a patch available at http://sylvana.net/jpegcrop/croppatch.tar.gz,
which adds support for lossless cropping to jpegtran.

The tarball just needs to be extracted in the jpeg-6b directory, and the new
options will be available after compilation and install.

Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1. tar zxvf jpegsrc.v6b.tar.gz
2. cd jpeg-6b
3. tar zxvf croppatch.tar.gz
4. ./configure && make as per current ebuild.

------- Comment #1 From Nir Dremer 2005-05-01 06:35:37 0000 -------
I join the request to add it to the official ebuild.

croppatch patch with man page

This is http://sylvana.net/jpegcrop/croppatch.tar.gz, together with a
corresponding update to the man page borrowed from Debian, in a form suitable
for epatch.

Lossless cropping has been available in jpegtran in Debian for years, so I
think it is safe to include it in Gentoo now.

Note that http://sylvana.net/jpegcrop/croppatch.tar.gz includes a touch up to
the exif format so that

  jpegtran -copy all -progressive

now gives the same result as

  jhead -cmd 'jpegtran -progressive &i > &o'

fixed in jpeg-6b-r6
