Description David Stanek 2004-10-28 10:20:22 UTC
The link to genericmailsql.sql no longer works. It points to an unregistered domain. Google came up with this alternative link:
http://dev.gentoo.org/~spyderous/dotfiles/genericmailsql.sql

Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1. Click the link in the document
2.
3.

Fixed in CVS.

It is a very poor assumption that this file will always remain in my public_html in that location. Especially since I wasn't informed that official Gentoo documentation links to it, so I had no reason to keep it there.

Please host it somewhere in gentoo CVS. I would suggest a supplements/ subdir to the docs or similar.

Very good point.

Sven, how about /doc/en/files/ as long as we keep it cleaner than all those files in our Portage tree? This way translators can either link to the same files or have a localized copy under their own /doc/LANG/files/ when it makes sense.

Well, that's a possible solution, although we will have to watch this very closely. Otherwise we'll get dozens of documents with files (think bug #69734 with the files of bug #45593).

Should we use any naming scheme? E.g. virt-mail-howto-genericmailsql.sql? I don't think this is wise (since it can be referenced from several documents) but it makes it easier to manage. Or we can add the references as comments in the file (SQL takes "-- " as comment separator), but that's butt-ugly for the readers.
Comment 5 Sven Vermeulen (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2004-12-06 02:00:13 UTC
Okay, created a "files/" subdirectory which contains the file. Updated virt-mail-howto.xml to link to this location.

This link is broken AGAIN.
Comment 8 Łukasz Damentko (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2008-10-06 18:12:55 UTC
The link leads to this:

http://www.gentoo.org/doc/en/files/genericmailsql.sql

And this does work for me.

No problem at all. Thanks for the report.
