mozilla-firefox-1.0_pre when in text boxes none of the cursor keys (up/down/left/right) Home or End keys actually do anyhing, the only way to move the cursor is to type or use the mouse

Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:

Comment 1 Richard Brown (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2004-09-16 05:10:52 UTC
Something I didn't check, sorry, is that creating a new profile solved this. It also solved #64209, and let me uninstall install extensions again.
Comment 2 TechWraith 2004-09-18 06:57:14 UTC
You don't really need to create a new profile, just go to your profile directory("/home/<username>/.mozilla/firefox/default.<smthng>") and delete "compreg.dat". A similar thunderbird issue can also be fixed in this way.
Comment 3 Aaron Peterson 2004-09-19 18:44:12 UTC
should this me mentioned upstream?

I see the the solution is presented here, but, this is a major issue.
Comment 4 Omer Hasan 2004-09-20 22:11:13 UTC
Hmm I found that my arrow keys stopped working with the new Firefox as well. But the solution above worked. Maybe we should have a patch in the ebuild that removes compreg.dat for all users on every emerge. Or is that unsafe?
Comment 5 Aaron Peterson 2004-09-20 23:09:42 UTC
removes compreg.dat

didn't work for me...
I'm still using konqueror for daily browsing... ;(
it takes an extra 15 minutes away from my life each day due to horrible tab closing issues...
Comment 6 Tim Weber 2004-09-26 03:28:27 UTC
I've told the Firefox devs about this workaround (which solved the issue on my box), since it appears to me that they haven't found a solution yet (see their bug https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=187083).
Comment 7 Mathieu Pillard 2004-09-27 08:35:39 UTC
Is it https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=260290 ?
Comment 8 Aron Griffis (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2004-11-15 13:27:00 UTC
Fixed in mozilla-launcher-1.20:

  27 Sep 2004; Aron Griffis <agriffis@gentoo.org>
  +mozilla-launcher-1.20.ebuild:
Update to 1.20, marked ~arch, to remove compreg.dat on first run of a new
  version #63999

Later versions of mozilla-launcher also remove other problematic files.
