Description:   Opened: 2004-08-19 14:10 0000
I have a rather ppor onboard soundcard that only supports playing sound at
48khz. I'm using the intel8x0 alsa driver from the 2.6.8 kernel, and alsa-lib
1.0.5-r3.

esd 0.2.35, unlike the previous version, plays back 44.1khz sound without
resampling it to 48khz. This can seen with the output from, e.g. mpg321:

mpg321 -o esd

w/ esound-0.2.34:
Playing MPEG stream from Gerry Rafferty - Baker Street.mp3 ...
 MPEG 1.0 layer III, 128 kbit/s, 44100 Hz joint-stereo
Audio device open for 44.1Khz, stereo, 16bit failed
 Trying 44.1Khz, 8bit stereo.
Audio device open for 44.1Khz, stereo, 8bit failed
 Trying 48Khz, 16bit stereo.

w/ esound 0.2.35:
Playing MPEG stream from Gerry Rafferty - Baker Street.mp3 ...
 MPEG 1.0 layer III, 128 kbit/s, 44100 Hz joint-stereo

Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1. emerge =media-sound/esound-0.2.35 on hardware that only supports 48khz
playback
2. attempt to play 44.1khz sound

Actual Results:
The sound was choppy and distorted from being played back at the wrong sample
rate.

Expected Results:
The sound should be resampled to the correct rate.
