support for bio2jack is already there, just needed to create bio2jack package
in portage and modify the mplayer ebuild to find it.

it is a renamed and modified media-video/mplayer/mplayer-1.0_pre5-r3.ebuild
from portage.

works for me (in conjunction with bug #60819)

emerges, and mplayer works with -ao jack on some audio files / video files

seemant re-assigned to the media-sound herd.

working stable on my machine for over a week now.   this is a small change, and
only affects users with jack in their USE flags.   please commit.

this may be easier to integrate than the previous ebuilds i have attached.  
this is a patch against the current mplayer (1.0_pre5-r4) in portage.

Please take a look at this, Chris. I put bio2jack in dev-libs, which seemed
most appropriate.

I see that configure tries to find bio2jack-config, which the bio2jack package
doesn't install... wouldn't it be simpler to make bio2jack also install
bio2jack-config?

Done. bio2jack-0.2-r1 now installs /usr/bin/bio2jack-config. Sorry about that.

mplayer ebuild needs to require ">= dev-libs/bio2jack-0.2-r1"... not
media-libs/bio2jack-0.2

Are you sure you have the right version?  I've confirmed with the commit, and
it
does have the correct biojack category listed...

strange.  now it started showing up correctly.  i don't know, chris.   must be
something i was doing wrong.
