I think ID3lib needs to be added to media-sound/grip dependencies. I couldn't 
get it to compile before I emerged ID3lib anyway.

There are 5 ebuilds in the grip/ directory, and all 5 have media-libs/id3lib in
DEPEND. So where's the problem with grip? Did you emerge --clean rsync?
