ntlmaps is a http/ftp/socks proxy server written in python that implements samba-like ntlm authentication against a Microsoft proxy server (which does not support 'normal' digest authentication). In case ms proxy was the only gateway for internet (and you don't use ntlmaps), all user space tools in *nix are not capable of surfing (no matter what you set in http_proxy and similar vars). This means that you can not use your internet connection while installing. Suggestion: could it be made present in all livecds? (230 kb with docs, depends only on python sockets) Original work: http://ntlmaps.sourceforge.net/ (Dmitry Rozmanov) BTW: if needed, i volunteer for package manteinance
