Same problem with other apps. This is a qt bug, fixed in suse and fedore linux, but not in gentoo. http://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=61412 https://bugzilla.redhat.com/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=118368 How can I get a patched qt on gentoo? (I am using qt 3.3.1, scribus 1.15, same problem with cvs version of scribus) Regards: ufechner
This is a Qt bug. Note Fedora and other distros have this fixed in their Qts. Theres a patch that can be applied. This is not a Scribus issue.
FYI: our bug is: http://scribus.bradney.info/bug_view_advanced_page.php?bug_id=0000045
Tried QT 3.3.2 with scribus. No crash any more, but the picture is not inserted into scribus if you drag it onto scribus. Needs further investigation. Recompiled kdelibs and kdebase and kdegraphics and scribus after qt update, perhaps something else must be recompiled?
Can you try out scribus 1.1.7 and see if there are still problems?
Still the same problem with scribus 1.7: No crash any more, but nothing happens instead of a picture beeing inserted. ufechner
This is NOT a Scribus bug. Various distros have Qt patched to fix this problem. On those distros Scribus doesnt crash, nor do other programs that implement d'n'd.
Hanno, this can be closed, Scribus doesnt crash with the current level of Qt. Drag and drop doesnt work from the KDE desktop to Scribus until the next level of Qt is released or Gentoo applies patches to Qt 3.3.2 that other distros have already applied.
Craig, drag and drop still doesn't work with qt-3.3.3, can you please give me a link to the patches needed for qt to get this working?
This is our bug: http://bugs.scribus.net/view.php?id=45 The external links have patches: http://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=61412 https://bugzilla.redhat.com/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=118368
Craig, this still doesn't work with latest qt (3.3.4). Although the crash is fixed, the image doesn't appear in scribus, so either this is a scribus-issue or it is not fixed in qt.
Its not fixed in Trolltech's Qt. It works on Suse, RH etc
Craig, we have the exact same patch as the redhat-guys (qt-3.3.4-qclipboard-hack.patch in x11-libs/qt/files), but it still doesn't work. Do you know what has to be done to get this working? I'd really like to close this one.

Hi Hanno, these 4 patches are from Suse's current patchset for Qt 3.3.4. Peter from our team submitted this one to Fedora ( http://bugzilla.redhat.com/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=118368 ) if it helps. I have not tried them out, but he just pulled them from the Qt RPM for me, which you could do also if you want to verify sources.
http://bugs.scribus.net/view.php?id=1919 Another bug reported from a Gentoo user. Please fix this!
These four patches are going into qt-3.3.4-r4
I hope this is done now. Please re-open if any problems remain.
