Finally Oracle has release a nice software package: Oracle Instant Client.
A package containing only the important files to connect to an Oracle database. OCI and JDBC mainly.

Now there is no f###ing need to put a >1 GB Oracle DB server installation onto a web server to get the correct 10g libraries :)

Please include this as ebuild. Naturally, this must be download first manually or there will be troubles with Oracle license.
