Description Mark Trolley 2002-06-27 10:48:04 UTC
The following error messages pop up when loading Nautilus in Gnome 2.0:

The Tree sidebar panel encountered an error and can't continue. If this keeps
happening, you might want to turn this panel off.

The Notes sidebar panel encountered an error and can't continue. If this keeps
happening, you might want to turn this panel off.

The History sidebar panel encountered an error and can't continue. If this
keeps happening, you might want to turn this panel off.

This was just posted in the forums, indicating that it may only be an issue for
people that had Gnome1.4 on previously:

"I emerged gnome2 cleanly ie no previous install of gnome 1.4 and I had no
problems with any side bar view crashing. It may be a problem with having a
previous version of nautilus ( or the previous conf files)."

Thanks to a comment in the forums, I have found that re-emerging nautilus fixes
this issue.
Comment 3 Spider (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2002-06-28 03:14:21 UTC
can any of you who have this problem please do
emerge rsync

emerge unmerge nautilus
emerge nautilus

and see if the problem still manifests itself?

I upgraded from Gnome v1.4 to Gnome v2.0 and was experiencing this error.
Spider's suggestion in comment #3 resolved it: History, Notes, and Tree sidebar
are working fine.

okay, I think we can call this "Fixed" for now.

The problem was taht nautilus didn't play well with paralell make.
