xorg-server-1.9.x crashes with segfault when any QT app is started. I rebuilt mesa and qt-core just in case, nothing changed. Not much in Xorg log, it's every time the same: Backtrace: [ 205.085] 0: /usr/bin/X (xorg_backtrace+0x28) [0x45d858] [ 205.085] 1: /usr/bin/X (0x400000+0x5ddd9) [0x45ddd9] [ 205.085] 2: /lib/libpthread.so.0 (0x3599600000+0xfc20) [0x359960fc20] [ 205.085] 3: /usr/bin/X (0x400000+0x160c9f) [0x560c9f] [ 205.085] 4: /usr/bin/X (0x400000+0x44c09) [0x444c09] [ 205.085] 5: /usr/bin/X (0x400000+0x23e6a) [0x423e6a] [ 205.085] 6: /lib/libc.so.6 (__libc_start_main+0xfd) [0x3598a1ed2d] [ 205.085] 7: /usr/bin/X (0x400000+0x23a09) [0x423a09] [ 205.085] Segmentation fault at address 0x4 [ 205.085] Fatal server error: [ 205.085] Caught signal 11 (Segmentation fault). Just found disabling xinerama allows me to run QT apps. Using TwinView right now.
binary drivers are not supported. They are provided for your convience only.
I have this same problem, actually in Archlinux. This is the only thing Google can find. I can also reproduce the bug with the open-source nouveau "nv" driver. Same crash backtrace, only when starting any qt app. If I disable Xinerama, it works fine, with either driver. Since the bug does not depend on the closed-source nvidia binary, the rationalle for closing this bug seems to be invalid.
A couple other places I have seen this bug reported lately: https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?pid=836875 https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/qt4-x11/+bug/650539
OK, turns out it was a bug in Xorg. Here's the patch: http://lists.x.org/archives/xorg-devel/2010-October/014150.html
Thanks, much appreciated!
