When using the totem browser plugin to try to play a trailer from Apple.com, I get the following error message: The playback of this movie requires a text/html decoder plugin which is not installed. This is actually because Apple.com is checking user-agent strings, as noted in Gnome bug 375867: https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=375867 This has been resolved in 2.28 by these commits: http://git.gnome.org/cgit/totem/patch/?id=c3a784b72a70b9fae5ef9279faa15ea4dc49933c http://git.gnome.org/cgit/totem/patch/?id=d3180aafb8597a6244a9e98425c721b1a6b0a33c Since 2.28 won't be stable in Gentoo for awhile, I've back ported the fixes to 2.26.3 with the attached diff. Using this patch, I can play trailers using totem. Reproducible: Always
Created attachment 209958 [details, diff] Patch to set user-agent string to allow streaming video
sounds like a worthy inclusion wwith the youtube plugin fix.
Added to 2.26.5-r1, will go stable as a part of 2.26-stable-pass-2 Thanks for reporting.
