The ebuild doesn't have amd64 keyword. See comment below:

Forcing ~x86 to be accepted on an amd64 machine seems to work just fine. :-)

Indeed, amd64 should work fine but I don't have any amd64 hardware.
Reassigning the bug to amd64.
