Hi, on date 03/06/2009 i bumped all the virtualbox ebuilds for the 3.0.0 release, ebuilds are currently commited on jokey's dev overlay[1] feel free to test them and report problems with these ebuilds here. [1] http://overlays.gentoo.org/dev/jokey
I think VirtualBox 3.0 has some serious show stoppers at the moment: - files on network shares can be written only once: http://www.virtualbox.org/ticket/4381 - virtual box has some display problems on radeon graphics cards: http://www.virtualbox.org/ticket/3095 I recommend not to update, yet.

I have this problem solved reinstalling windows
The first bug is solved in 3.0.2 which seems to be traveling onto the servers right now. The second bug persists but I guess a hint to the user to consider setting an environment variable XLIB_SKIP_ARGB_VISUALS=1 in case of graphics problems should be sufficient to bump.

The xf86-video-virtualbox-3.0.2 from jockey overlay seems to be missing a linux-mod_pkg_postinst. I needed to do a 'depmod -aq' before doing a 'modprobe vboxvideo'. Is it automagically done if I add it to /etc/conf.d/modules (openrc)? Is the 3D working in Linux (virtualbox-bin-3.0.2)? I tried to test a backup livedisk of my gentoo 64-bit installation. 3D didn't work for me. (I get a device initialization error message from VBoxVideo driver in my Xorg.log.) Also, seems a bit fragile. Have to boot with 'nolapic' at times. Sometimes run into timeouts with the cdrom device (it is a mounted iso image). And then this <64MB video memory workaround for reduced/blank screen when using vboxvideo driver.

@Denis Savelyev - Comment #21 I just built from the latest in jokey overlay, 3.0.2, amd64 with fully updated stable system - and I checked the specific section in which you were having issues. I received an errorless (and no messages) install for that specific file. I'm no expert on the matter, but perhaps there is something else amiss on your system?
