I can emerge libevent-0.7c fine here, what versions of auto{make,conf} are you using?
Just to notice: the bug is (was) about the 0.6 version. You are talking about the 0.7 version. As of THIS moment, the 0.6 is still the "stable release"
0.7c is now marked x86, not sure what to do about 0.6, it'll stay there for now, can't hurt anything.
