The Rose-Hulman Linux Users Group will be running a Gentoo mirror for on campus
students. We would like to provide a public mirror for the rest of the Gentoo
community as well.

(note: the admin email is not yet configured)

While it is true that lots of colleges are rsync mirrors, it is generally good
practice to **actually** get the blessing of campus computing administrators
before deciding that the reporter’s judgment is a sentiment shared by those
legally entitled to bind an institution into being a mirror.  I strongly
suggest that this issue be rejected until the reporter’s Linux Users Group
seek approval from their advisory staff and campus computing staff.

Furthermore, users of that campus network may not appreciate the traffic that
would be consumed by outside individuals downloading gentoo.

Based on the previous comment, I am closing this ticket until we obtain
"official" approval from our computing services.

In the mean time, could the "powers that be" continue monitoring our server to
test if it updating correctly?
