Description:   Opened: 2003-08-03 02:23 0000
From author's site:

Soapbox allows to restrict processes to write only to those places you want.
Read-access however is still based on file-permissions. By preloading the
Soapbox library, you can run programs as root and monitor which writes/changes
are made, without them really happening. (Typically 'make install')

Reproducible: Always

------- Comment #2 From Patrick Kursawe 2003-08-03 22:41:00 0000 -------
Why does this remind me of the "sandbox" portage feature? :-)

------- Comment #3 From Ryan Finnie 2003-08-04 18:13:32 0000 -------
That's what led me to soapbox in the first place... I wanted a standalone
program to track where a commercial installer wrote files, and happened to find
this.

BTW, this does not appear to build cleanly on sparc, I will investigate.

------- Comment #4 From Seemant Kulleen (RETIRED) 2003-11-02 10:09:44 0000 -------
ryan, what's news on the sparc front then?

------- Comment #5 From Ryan Finnie 2003-12-19 20:56:13 0000 -------
Erm, sorry for the delay... I'll have to reassemble my ultra1 to get the patch
needed to run this on sparc.

------- Comment #6 From Ryan Finnie 2003-12-27 22:31:40 0000 -------
I still don't have access to a sparc machine with gentoo, but I am currently
enlisting the help of #gentoo-sparc at the moment...

By the way, amd64 works fine as well.

------- Comment #7 From Ciaran McCreesh 2003-12-27 22:33:37 0000 -------
Builds fine for me.

------- Comment #8 From Ciaran McCreesh 2003-12-27 23:15:34 0000 -------
Sparc at least needs a DEPEND of >=sys-libs/glibc-2.3.2-r3

soapbox-0.3.1.ebuild

Added amd64/sparc keywords and dependency

------- Comment #10 From Ciaran McCreesh 2003-12-28 00:39:06 0000 -------
Whilst we're at it... You can take out src_unpack() and src_compile(), no need
for either of those. Also add in IUSE="" (I believe that this is required under
current policy, although the docs may not reflect this...). You should also
~ify the keywords (except amd64) as new ebuilds shouldn't be added as stable.

------- Comment #11 From Ryan Finnie 2004-05-24 01:17:00 0000 -------
Ping. Ebuild has been tested with x86/amd64/sparc platforms, as specified in
previous comments.

------- Comment #12 From Ciaran McCreesh 2004-10-16 07:49:00 0000 -------
Still waiting for you to fix the QA problems on this before we can think about
adding it...

------- Comment #13 From Ryan Finnie 2005-01-24 01:15:54 0000 -------
Sorry, this package has kinda slipped off my radar... I will see about
converting the ebuild soon
