Description:   Opened: 2009-01-15 19:05 0000
As already described in http://bugs.gentoo.org/show_bug.cgi?id=251242 after
upgrading xorg-server to 1.5.3 (or 1.5.3-r1), the 'fixed' font does not work as
expected (changes in size or does not work at all, depending on the used size).
As the upstream bug[1] suggest, it is not limited to the 'fixed' font, but all
bitmap fonts are affected. On a side note, although this bug only talks about
EXA, I'm experiencing this bug with XAA (xf86-video-ati).

Then reopen that bug or request it there....

I was explicitly asked to open this new bug as it is a different issue than the
other bug, see the last comment by Rémi Cardona. So I'm reopening this bug.

Then why should bug-wranglers even get to see this one?

I'm sorry for the confusion, but I don't know how to assign a bug directly to
x11@gentoo.org (am I actually allowed to do that?). But the bug description
could have been a least a bit more better to reflect the need for this bug.

Here is a link to the mentioned comment which contains further links to related
comments describing the problem and a possible solution that works for me,
although the linked comment suggests, there is a better way to solve the
problem:

I think I also experience this kind of problem.

I previously had problems with 1.5.3 that resulted in kanji characters not
displayed correctly. This seems to be fixed with 1.5.3-r1, but a problem
remains that I can see when xscreensaver has locked the session.

With 1.5.2 the xscreensaver login screen does use various font styles, like
normal, bold, etc.
With 1.5.3-r1 all text is displayed with the same (too small) font. Clearly not
the correct behaviour.

------- Comment #6 From Rémi Cardona 2009-02-05 11:31:38 0000 -------
Should be fixed in 1.5.3-r2, please reopen if it's not the case.

Thanks
