Description H. Peter Pfeufer 2008-11-13 14:50:43 UTC
Every time I try to emerge -DNuav world I get the gollowing message:

server ~ # emerge -DNauv world
emerge: the given set 'world' contains a non-existent set named 'kde-4.1'.

Reproducable: allways on my machine.

Any Idea?

You probably need to remove kde-4.1 from /var/lib/portage/world_sets.
Comment 2 Zac Medico gentoo-dev 2008-11-13 17:42:20 UTC
We can add support to correct problems like this with `emaint --fix world` and advise the user that they need to run it in cases like this.

It works now.
Thanks for fast help
Comment 4 Bartosz Krzeszewski 2008-12-29 12:46:48 UTC
emerge -upvD world
emerge: the given set 'world' contains a non-existent set named 'kde'.

Removing kde set from /var/lib/portage/world_sets solved problem but there wasn't any message from emerge what I should do.
Comment 5 Matt 2009-08-13 18:24:55 UTC
I just stumbled over a similar problem:

emerge: the given set 'world' contains a non-existent set named ''.

seemingly there wasn't anything wrong with world or world_sets

fortunately "emaint --fix world"

cured it :)
