From upstream homepage: 25 October 2008: Current patches. Although I haven't posted anything on the website for some time, I haven't been completely idle with respect to TuxOnIce. A look at the git archives (see above) will show a small but steady stream of patches being applied. I'm hoping to do one last release candidate soon, then 3.0. In the meantime, you can get up-to-date patches (as of today) for Ubuntu Feisty - Hardy and 2.6.22 onwards in the All downloads page. The file names start with "current-tuxonice". ___ Patch for 2.6.27 can be get from: http://www.tuxonice.net/downloads/all/current-tuxonice-2.6.27.patch.bz2 Thanks Reproducible: Always
Created attachment 170563 [details] 2.6.27-tuxonice Ebuild for 2.6.27.4 with tuxonice and gentoo-patchset. Works like a charm here (amd64) with sys-power/hibernate-script-1.99 (http://bugs.gentoo.org/show_bug.cgi?id=222113). Attention nvidia-, iwl4965- and v86d users: You will need the latest unstable nvidia beta-driver (177.80), update to sys-apps/v86d-0.1.9 if you plan to continue to use uvesafb and iwl4965-ucode-228.57.2.21 (watch the *.2.*!!). Please do _not_ assign this bug to the mobile herd. Ty!
Small update: Hibernate doesn't work properly with nvidia-drivers-177.80 (http://www.nvnews.net/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=120705), but hibernate-ram does!!! Nvidia is going to provide an update to the 173.14-series for 2.6.27 (http://www.nvnews.net/vbulletin/showthread.php?p=1829340). If you're on x86 you can try to patch nvidia-drivers-173.14.12 with _http://kanotix.com/files/173.14.12/NVIDIA_173.14.12_2.6.27.patch_ (download the binary from nvidia and then: sh <BINARY> --apply-patch <PATCH> . Afterwards install manually or better, modify an ebuild to use it.)
Created attachment 173042 [details] 2.6.27-tuxonice Updated to genpatches 2.6.27-5 (2.6.27.7-vanilla).
I tried the ebuild, and works fine for me (Gentoo ~x86 on Lenovo Thinkpad R500).
Since mobile team luck of resources, I'm updating hdaps_protect/tp_smapi/hibernate-script with multiple patches in my small overlay. tuxonice-sources-2.6.27-r1.ebuild joins that collection: http://gentoo.o0o.nu/portage/sys-kernel/tuxonice-sources/
Sorry, of the methods used here, which is the most useful to the kernel team to test against? I see that dsd's kernel release page has a number of new updates to (2.6.27-9), but I don't know if these are integrated here? Thanks.
Created attachment 176529 [details] 2.6.27-tuxonice I'm adding a new ebuild with the latest patches from gentoo-sources-2.6.27-r7 and the correct download URI for tuxonice patches. I can confirm it's hibernating and resuming without a problem. Hope someone add it to the tree.
Created attachment 176550 [details] tuxonice 2.6.28 with genpatches-2.6.28-1
Just a (obvious?) heads-up: sys-kernel/linux-headers-2.6.27-r2 is now in the stable x86 arch branch. I'm guessing that this won't cause a problem for anyone with current tuxonice systems, until they rebuild glibc... No, I haven't verified that it DOES cause a problem, but I don't have a system at present to check to see if glibc blows up on rebuild.
*** Bug 252495 has been marked as a duplicate of this bug. ***
there are new patches for tuxonice but they need svn version of userui ( which should be seen packaged) so we'll have to wait a bit for them.
current-* are snapshots, I'd prefer to have properly versioned release. I'll contact upstream about userui and versioned release of TOI.
The new patchset has been released yesterday (see http://www.tuxonice.net/downloads/all/), however it's better to wait for the next release, because of the bug: http://bugzilla.tuxonice.net/show_bug.cgi?id=405
3.0-rc8 has been released, expect new version in portage in few minutes.
Kernel versions 2.6.24, 2.6.25, 2.6.26, 2.6.27 and 2.6.28 updated to 3.0-rc8.
Please fix simple version bump in bug #222113 as well. tuxonice >= 2.6.24 (current stable) does not work with the current version in the portage.
(In reply to comment #16) > Please fix simple version bump in bug #222113 as well. tuxonice >= 2.6.24 > (current stable) does not work with the current version in the portage. Done.
