How about reporting it upstream https://trac.xiph.org/ and see if they'll fix it?

probably related to the encode useflag being disabled... https://trac.xiph.org/ticket/1423 and beta3_r1 is fine afaik

In the meantime, can that patch get backported to beta2 or can we RESTRICT=test in beta2? When doing arch testing, it is annoying to hit packages which fail during tests.
