Description Rémi Cardona 2003-06-27 04:17:21 UTC
The Install guide doesn't specify how to change the keymap. I think it should be
before the module loading section since having a keyboard with half the keys in
the wrong "place" is frustrating.

Information in the FAQ doesn't work with 1.4RC4 3stages CD. So I guess it should be updated as well.

Changed to enhancement since it IS specified in the boot of the LiveCD. It should however be clearer that keymaps are changed at that point (for the LiveCD sessions).

Added the following warning:

"""
Warning: Read this whole section before proceeding, especially the available boot options. Ignoring this could lead to wrong keyboard settings, unstarted pcmcia services etc.
"""

http://cvs.gentoo.org/~swift/gentoo-x86-install.html
http://cvs.gentoo.org/~swift/gentoo-x86-install.xml

Will be committed after reviewing.

I thought the boot prompt was only for pcmcia devices and framebuffer options. I didn't expect the keyboard setting to be in there.
Further more, on the PPC LiveCD, keymaps are changed after boot up. I just found this bit confusing.

Committed to CVS. I agree though that it's confusing and I'd rather see it possible for users to just do "loadkeys be-latin1" or whatever keymap they want. I'll surely keep on proposing that to the LiveCD maintainers.
