additional notes:

forgot to mention.

this is reproducible after:

1. rm -rf /var/tmp/portage/app-crypt/ophcrack-3.0.1
2. rm -rf /usr/portage/distfiles/ophcrack-3.0.1.tar.bz2
3. rm -rf /usr/portage/app-crypt/ophcrack # just to eliminate any doubt about
it being a possibly bad get
4. emerge --sync
5. emerge -uv app-crypt/ophcrack

i have also tried two different mirrors with identical results, over a span of
several hours. this leads me to believe it is an upstream ebuild issue and has
not been resolved yet. v3.0 builds without error.

------- Comment #5 From Mike Auty 2008-07-22 19:40:47 0000 -------
Thanks brent,

You're quite right, it's using the same patch as 3.0 which should be in the
files directory rather than in a tarball. Sorry, it should all be fixed up
now. Give it an hour or two to replicate and then trying syncing again... 5:)
