Description Marcelo Goes (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2008-07-14 02:31:33 UTC
Hello,

I just bumped www-client/links to 2.1. Here's an entry from the ChangeLog, I don't know how you want to handle it:

Tue Jun 24 06:08:04 MET 2008 mikulas:

Security bug fixed: when "only proxies" is selected, don't pass URLs
	to external programs

Affected arches: alpha, amd64, arm, hppa, ia64, ppc, ppc64, s390, sh, sparc, x86.

Cheers,
Marcelo
Comment 1 Matthias Geerdsen (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2008-07-16 15:10:18 UTC
Thanks for the report Marcelo.
I'm opening this bug as the changelog is public anyways.

Could you maybe shed some light on this issue? For example... what is this "only proxies" setting?

Here is the relevant patch:

it's more like a bug of a specific links feature for me, concerning crawling with anonymization for paranoid people.

I vote no and closing. Fell free to reopen if you disagree.
