Description:   Opened: 2003-05-30 18:05 0000
I have created a series of ebuilds for modules that are available for the
library
app-text/sword.

The .tar.bz2 file that I am attaching contains 264 ebuilds. When making a
decision to
include all of the available modules I considered packages such as karamba
which
have large numbers of add-ins available.

These are the first ebuilds that I have tried to submit, please let me know if
there are
any problems with them. They are automatically generated so if one contains an
error,
they all do; let me know and I can regenerate the group.

All .ebuilds attached require app-text/sword in runtime. Some require certain
versions
of app-text/sword, most do not.

If you are interested in the sword project, information is available at
www.crosswire.org/sword. One sword viewer that already has an ebuild is
app-text/bibletime.

Thank you.

app-text/sword-modules

I can see you devoted a lot of time to all those ebuilds. While I do like your
ebuilds, a single one with a few of the main modules would be better. I
attached an example- feel free to add in what you want. I do think such a
package should be added to portage, but 264 can be a little much, unless each
module gains more popularity.

so many modules...

maybe pick the top 10-20 modules and put it in a sword-modules-popular SINGLE ebuild :)

Just a thought.... I'd be much more motivated to test that.

That's what I was trying to say. Look at my attachment. I'll make it use the
top 20 modules instead of only the top 6, if that's what you want, but the
second attachment is a single ebuild. I will get started on making it use the
first 20 modules (within reason) right away.

app-text/sword-modules-0.1

-added Wycliffe's Tyndale's works

List of modules:
-King James Version
-StrongsGreek
-StrongsHebrew
-ASV
-RSV
-AKJV
-Josephus?
-ISBE
-ISV
-WebstersDict
-KJDV
-Wycliffe?
-Tyndale?

The ones with question marks I wasn't sure if I should include. Josephus is a
book, but not in the Bible. I recall that it may have been referenced in some
form from the Old Testament. I also felt like I should include Wycliffe's and
Tyndale's works, since it is through these men that we have our modern English
Bible, and they can make good reference. This ebuild installs well and I would
like to see it or a dirivative of it added to portage.

oh yes, I don't know why I made it ~x86. It should be fine as stable in other
architectures.

KEYWORDS set to x86 instead of ~x86.
Added Young's Literal Translation.
Added Latin Vulgate.
This would be a good addition to portage.

offensive? sword-modules-0.1

I added the "offensive" use flag and threw in things such as the books of
Josephus, Jashur, and the Book of Mormon under there. By including them, I do
not support these books and because of their questionable content, you must:
# USE="offensive" emerge sword-modules
for them to be installed. I am not obsoleting the previous ebuild in case the
devs do not see this one to be propper.

------- Comment #9 From Jon Hood (RETIRED) 2004-02-09 11:30:30 0000 -------
Sorry, I got some emails from people who noticed a little problem with what I
said before. I mixed up the books of Jashur and Josephus. Though I am not sure
of our current book of jashur's inspiration, it is mentioned twice in the old
testament, and this is why it is under the "offensive" use flag, for the debate
behind its inspiration.

sword-modules-0.1 ebuild

Here we go, this one includes the Arabic quran (koran) in the offensive flags
as well. It involved a lot of changes to the ebuild. Also, josephus is moved
back to normal instead of "offensive" due to complaints I got (I had mistaken
it for jashur earlier).

There.	I realized that one of the commands will fail if you don't have the
"offensive" flag on. Sorry about that. Also included are some english
translations of koran writings.
