Do you have virtual/libiconv installed?
Comment 2 Dan Coats 2008-04-23 23:12:27 UTC
yes and iconv-1.11
Comment 3 Ulrich Müller gentoo-dev 2008-04-24 06:08:02 UTC
Please attach the complete build.log.
What is the output of "emerge -pv openmotif"?

I guess the problem is that configure is checking for iconv_open, while iconv.h on FreeBSD redefines the name of this function:
#ifndef LIBICONV_PLUG
#define iconv_open libiconv_open
#endif

Does attached ebuild and patch fix the problem?

Gentoo patch was accepted upstream.
