Description proglottis 2007-12-21 09:13:43 UTC
Version 2.0.0.44 of pyopengl does not seem to load textures. Immediately breaks out with an error. Upgrading to the ~amd64 version (2.0.0.44) seems to fix the problem.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1.$ cd /usr/lib64/python2.5/site-packages/OpenGL/Demo/NeHe/
2.$ python lesson6.py

Actual Results:
$ python lesson6.py
Hit ESC key to quit.
Traceback (most recent call last):
  File "lesson6.py", line 228, in <module>
    main()
  File "lesson6.py", line 221, in main

    glTexImage2D(GL_TEXTURE_2D, 0, 3, ix, iy, 0, GL_RGBA, GL_UNSIGNED_BYTE, image)
OpenGL.GL.GLerror: [Errno 1280] invalid enumerant

Expected Results:
$ python lesson6.py
Hit ESC key to quit.

Should show a rotating cube with a NeHe texture.

With 2.0.1.09-r1 (and a full ~amd64 system), I get

# python lesson6.py
Traceback (most recent call last):
  File "lesson6.py", line 50, in <module>
    from Image import *
ImportError: No module named Image

something else must be wrong.

Your missing PIL. Emerging dev-python/imaging should fix that error.

Ok, put pyopengl-3.0.0_beta1 in the tree. The Demos aren't included anymore, but the mentioned demo from PyOpenGL-2.x works like a charm now (tested on amd64).
Comment 4 Hans Meine 2008-08-15 13:29:41 UTC
I just ran into the same error (with KeyJnote^H^H^H^H^H^H^H^HCENSORED); this makes version 2.0.0.44 pretty much unusable on amd64. However, dev-python/pyopengl-2.0.1.09-r1 has this problem fixed, so what about marking this stable on amd64?
