It obviously does not work as on the mirrors there can only be one file called
`lmgrd.Z', and even if one downloads the correct archive by hand it fails
checksuming, and wrong one is being redownloaded.  Running `ebuild foo.ebuild
digest' solves that, but then again, this is going to be overwriten by the next
sync.  I'd love to propose some solution, but to my best knowledge about gentoo
install process I have no idea on how to resolve it.

Huh? I'd suggest checking the URLs a couple more times.
