Noone touched this for over 3 months; your checkout/snapshot sucks.

emerge --sync; I really don't know where did you get such broken thing in the
first place.

------- Comment #5 From David Ashley 2007-11-11 16:03:56 0000 -------
I did emerge --sync last night, and again this morning. Doing it again
won't fix it. This is a brand new gentoo build. It's pristine out of the
box. Throw me a bone. The only thing I know is I didn't create this problem,
but I'm blocked until it gets resolved. Thanks--

------- Comment #6 From Jakub Moc (RETIRED) 2007-11-11 16:08:21 0000 -------
Well, then change your rsync mirror to one that doesn't completely suck or file
a bug about the broken mirror.

------- Comment #7 From David Ashley 2007-11-11 16:09:43 0000 -------
I'm just a dumb user, can you tell me specifically how to do what you suggest?

------- Comment #8 From Jakub Moc (RETIRED) 2007-11-11 16:14:10 0000 -------
man make.conf

For more questiong, please move to forums.gentoo.org or #gentoo on Freenode.

This bug is INVALID as shown above, and bugzilla is not a support forum.

------- Comment #9 From Jakub Moc (RETIRED) 2007-11-11 16:22:39 0000 -------
Actually mentioning the ebuild name and version as shown in the failed emerge
output would really save me from wasting about one hour of my time trying to
figure out what's this bug about.

Sigh. :(

------- Comment #10 From Jakub Moc (RETIRED) 2007-11-11 16:23:13 0000 -------
IOW, this whole this is not about sys-devel/libperl *at* *all*.

*** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of bug 198751 ***

------- Comment #11 From David Ashley 2007-11-11 16:25:26 0000 -------
Look, you're in denial. There is a BUG, somewhere. I'm a moron, all I can
report is that the shit's not working. emerge --sync doesn't make a bit of
difference, I've tried it. If I keep trying it I'm going to get banned. Ok? I
tried switching to a different SYNC in /etc/make.conf, no difference. Ok? I get
the same error again. The file downloaded libperl-5.8.8-r1.tbz2 is always
1837619 but it is (evidently) supposed to be 1534618 byes.

You keep saying go away. That the f*** am I supposed to do when there is a bug
in the system? I don't want to be an expert on gentoo, I want to get on with my
work.

Sorry, it's just that it's most frustrating when someone tells me there isn't a
problem when there is one. I'll start following this other bug, and thanks for
your efforts.
