Description:   Opened: 2007-10-11 00:50 0000
This latest version of splashutils has proper support for fbcondecor (to be
included in gentoo-sources 2.6.23) and no open bugs.

It would be nice to get it stable for the 2007.1 snapshot.

------- Comment #1 From Christian Faulhammer 2007-10-11 08:03:32 0000 -------
x86 stable

------- Comment #2 From Stanislovas Mickus 2007-10-16 11:21:17 0000 -------
media-gfx/splashutils-1.5.2.1 doesn't compile on ppc.
I'm attaching emerge --info and build.log

This looks like a problem with the kernel headers or klibc. Which version of
klibc are you using? Can you please try remerging it? Against which kernel
version was klibc compiled?

------- Comment #6 From Stanislovas Mickus 2007-10-19 13:35:32 0000 -------
I'm using dev-libs/klibc-1.5 and it was compiled agains
gentoo-sources-2.6.22-r8. Unfortunately reemerging klibc didn't help.

------- Comment #7 From nixnut 2007-10-20 13:31:50 0000 -------
On ppc there is a problem with klibc-1.5. See bug 196521.

------- Comment #8 From Steve Dibb 2007-10-21 20:33:01 0000 -------
amd64 stable

------- Comment #9 From Jim Bowlin 2007-10-28 18:56:46 0000 -------
Maybe I missed something but on my amd64 system splashutils-1.5.2.1 went stable
before the corresponding gentoo-sources. This combination requires users to
select from these choices:

  1) mask >media-gfx/splashutils-1.4.2
  2) unmask the unstable kernel
  3) manually patch the older kernel
  4) forgo splash

Latest stable gentoo-sources is 2.6.22-r8.

------- Comment #10 From Brent Baude 2007-11-07 01:46:24 0000 -------
The ppc problem is http://bugs.gentoo.org/show_bug.cgi?id=190113

All the various arch variables get twisted and don't seem to correct the issue.
Somewhere klibc is setting another variable based on detecting the arch of the
kernel. So in the case of ppc64, we have a 64bit kernel but also run 32bit
binaries. It tries to pass -m64 to the 32bit compiler.

That's one ppc problem. If you get past that you'll probably run into the
headers installation problem of bug 196521. But I think I have a patch for
that. It seems to work here.

------- Comment #12 From Chris Gianelloni (RETIRED) 2007-11-08 01:24:34 0000 -------
OK. I'm not waiting on PPC for this for the snapshot, so I'm removing release.
If by some miracle this gets fixed in the next couple days, please let me know
and I'll pull it into the snapshot.

------- Comment #13 From nixnut 2007-12-21 15:09:40 0000 -------
ppc stable. closing since we're last.
