Bug 192075 – Booting up reports that rsyncd "died" and "failed to start" when in fact it started correctly and functions correctly

from /var/log/messages (with /etc/conf.d/rc set to verbose=no and parallel=yes)"/etc/init.d/rsyncd[4073]: start-stop-daemon:
/usr/bin/rsync died" next line says "/etc/init.d/rsyncd[4044]: ERROR: rsyncd
failed to start" I only get this error with the parallel=yes setting on. It reports this both on the console when booting and gives the above output in the log.

Not a perfect patch due to the design of rsync, but this is the least intrusive and should fix the issue as s-s-d does give some time allowance. Please test and report back.
