The Makefile is really riced up, needs a lot of love, easier maintained through someone's overlay since nobody is taking care of this. will remove in 30 days

For the record, if someone wants to write some auto{conf, make} scripts for the package, that'd help out.
Hi I'm the maintainer of MMS and the old maintainer of the mmsv2 package. I've heard the claim before that the "home-brewed" configure script used in MMS is really horrible and that something generated by autoconf should be much better. The project (MMS) has existed for 5 years and in that time we have always used your own configure script. At one point we had to include libfs++ and here I got a taste of just how horrible autoconf really is. Configuring libfs++ took at least twice as long as configuring MMS. The configure script for libfs++ broke for no apparent reason when a new version of autoconf was released. Furthermore one needed to understand autoconf in order to be able to change it. In the end I rewrote the configure script as a normal configure script since it's like 10 lines of code and suddently I got: fast configure, no autobreakage and transparency. With that in mind, could you please explain to me why I would ever want to rewrite my working configure script in something that have so many obivous problems?

bump the sucker
Oops, I didn't know there was this bug open. I didn't really like the configure script either, but it was "workable" after multiple configure and compilation failures due to lack of autotools magic. Bumped now.
