Please attach emerge --verbose --info
Please run python-updater.
I run python-updater already, before I noticed the problem. And I runned it once more. It does not helped. The result of 'emerge --verbose --info' on the x86_64 system (sun-jdk-1.6.0.02 is already installed, but a new install fails) is in the first attachment. The result of emerge --verbose --info' on i686 systems, where I did 'emerge -C sun-jdk' is in the second atachment. 'emerge sun-jdk' fails at least at one further i686 system.
Created an attachment (id=129148) [details] emerge --verbose --info at a x86_64 system
(In reply to comment #4) > Created an attachment (id=129148) [edit] [details] > emerge --verbose --info at a x86_64 system > binary garbage
Created an attachment (id=129150) [details] emerge --verbose --info at a i686 system
(In reply to comment #6) > Created an attachment (id=129150) [edit] [details] > emerge --verbose --info at a i686 system > useless likewise
Created an attachment (id=129151) [details] emerge --verbose --info at a x86_64 system (uncompressed)
Created an attachment (id=129152) [details] emerge --verbose --info at a i686 system (uncompressed)
The first two attachments were the bzip2 compressed result of 'emerge --info --verbose'. I still added the uncompressed results.
(In reply to comment #10) > The first two attachments were the bzip2 compressed result of 'emerge --info > --verbose'. > > I still added the uncompressed results. > Then the text/plain mime type is wrong but please use uncompressed in the future
Please check your bash version, since if you're using >=bash-3.2_p20 then this is more fallout from bug 190128.
(In reply to comment #12) > Please check your bash version, since if you're using >=bash-3.2_p20 then this > is more fallout from bug 190128. Wonder why emerge --info does not contain bash version, I'd say it's pretty important for portage, like python.
I use bash, bash, version 3.2.25(1)-release (x86_64-pc-linux-gnu) respectively version 3.2.25(1)-release (i686-pc-linux-gnu).
At least the test script from bug 190128 ( http://bugs.gentoo.org/attachment.cgi?id=129123&action=view ) with a little modification (I replace #!/bin/bash-3.2_p20 by #!/bin/bash) works with bash, version 3.2.25.

Is that the same as bash-3.2_p25 which is known to have the issue reported in bug #190128? That version is currently unsupported. *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of bug 190128 ***
