In ghostscript-gpl-8.57 ebuild 'soinstall' is commented out, so no libgs.so is
installed. Because of this gsview no worky, as ir requires libgs.so, it seems.

What version of gv ? have you do a ldd /usr/bin/gv to see the dependency with
libgs.so ?

Any news for this bug ?

It's app-text/gsview, not app-text/gv.
It doesn't link against libgs.so, prolly dlopens or something. The program
starts but spits out an error, saying the lib not found.

Ok sorry for the confusion, but I've installed and start the app (without open
a ps file, just for test ...) without problem !?

Have you some errors if you launch the app in a console ?? Can you send more
details on this bug please ?

Why without? It's kinda pointless to have an app installed w/o actually using
it :)

Sure.
When you're actually trying to open a pdf file, it goes like:

GSview 4.8 2006-02-25
play_sound: not implemented
debug=0
Failed to load libgs.so: libgs.so: cannot open shared object file: No such file
or directory
Can't load Ghostscript DLL
