I attempted to install Amarok without realizing I needed PyQt because I'm new to Linux. I knew that I needed sip for PyQt though so I successfully emerged that. As I'm emerging PyQt, it enters a sip directory and says it doesn't exist. It enters 2 more directories, saying "no such file or directory exists." sip emerges successfully twice while PyQt fails to install twice, over the course of 12 to 24 hours with a reboot between trials. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. emerge sip 2. emerge PyQt Actual Results: sip emerged successfully. PyQt fails. Expected Results: PyQt should have successfully emerged. Terminal, mplayer, Konversation, Kopete and Mozilla FireFox were running at the time of this failure. I'm running Gentoo on an HP Pavilion XG823 with the only upgrade being an ethernet port adaptor.
