Description:   Opened: 2007-07-04 16:51 0000
Prerequisite: bug #178635 (stable request)

Please mark gentoo-sources-2.6.21-r3 stable.
(ppc64, please mark ~arch instead, as it is currently unkeyworded)
I have been testing this myself on x86 and amd64. No issues from where I'm
standing. Also our buglist is nice and clean.

The usual stuff: more hardware support, lots of fixes and improvements, ...
Also fixes a number of bugs that we haven't been able to backport fixes for:
bug #165815, bug #172235, bug #172244, bug #172834, bug #182484

Thanks!

------- Comment #1 From Gustavo Zacarias (RETIRED) 2007-07-04 17:08:53 0000 -------
sparc stable.

------- Comment #2 From Joe Jezak 2007-07-04 17:50:22 0000 -------
Could you also mark the corresponding vanilla-sources-2.6.21.5 stable as well?
Thanks!

Both marked ppc stable, re-added sparc, sorry.

------- Comment #3 From Gustavo Zacarias (RETIRED) 2007-07-04 17:54:09 0000 -------
sure, we always forget that!

====amd64====

Merges fine. Compiles fine(i have never seen a kernel build problem...weird).
Works fine. Should stabili[z, s]e fine. :P

I tested NFS, sensors, booting, networking(NFS, duh), X11, Nvidia.

I've been running this kernel for about a week on my system. It seems to work
properly.

another preqrequisite that I forgot earlier: bug #184325
readding sparc and ppc so that they can be aware of the dep, sorry guys...

------- Comment #7 From Gustavo Zacarias (RETIRED) 2007-07-05 17:37:16 0000 -------
sparc done, once again!

------- Comment #8 From Joe Jezak 2007-07-05 21:11:45 0000 -------
ppc too!

------- Comment #9 From Markus Rothe 2007-07-06 16:23:04 0000 -------
ppc64 stable

------- Comment #10 From devsk 2007-07-09 04:12:22 0000 -------
Has anyone tested suspend-to-ram in gentoo-sources-2.6.21-r3 ? On my machine,
it works perfectly in gentoo-sources-2.6.21-r1 but resume fails in
gentoo-sources-2.6.21-r3. I am testing gentoo-sources-2.6.21-r2 now to close
the regression gap.

------- Comment #11 From devsk 2007-07-09 04:35:16 0000 -------
ok, finished testing on r2 and the resume hangs just like r3. r1 works. Does
anyone know what happened between r1 and r2 that could break ACPI
suspend-to-ram?

Nvidia nforce4
amd 3800+ X2 using amd64
sata_nv and amd pata (not from libata) driver for IDE
No changes (apart from kernel) in hardware or software between r1 and r2

You could try vanilla-sources (use .6) and/or use git bisect. First you should
have a look at -r4.
http://www.reactivated.net/weblog/archives/2006/01/using-git-bisect-to-find-buggy-kernel-patches/

Readding ppc, ppc64 and sparc as -r4 is out and contains a security fix (so
says the ChangeLog). Also take care of vanilla 2.6.21.6

------- Comment #13 From Daniel Drake 2007-07-09 11:59:09 0000 -------
Please file a new bug for your suspend issues, rather than polluting unrelated
ones. (btw, git bisect will not help you here)

------- Comment #14 From Markus Rothe 2007-07-09 12:46:47 0000 -------
suspend to ram does not exist on ppc64 as far as I know.

-r4 and .6 stable on ppc64

sparc stable again then!

alpha stable, thanks Tobias and Brian for testing

amd64: you also need vanilla-sources, don't you? (comment #2)
